iLAC is committed to contributing to human health and scientific advancement as a provider of comprehensive testing services, including clinical testing, genetic analysis, and research support analysis. We fulfill our social responsibilities while respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals involved in testing and analysis, and we conduct our business operations ethically and soundly as outlined below.

1. Compliance with Laws and Guidelines

iLAC complies with the following relevant laws and guidelines, among others, according to the content of the inspections and analyses it conducts.

  • Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Personal Information Protection Act)
  • Ethical Guidelines for Life Science and Medical Research Involving Human Subjects
  • Physician Act and Act on Clinical Laboratory Technicians, etc.
  • Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act

Furthermore, we ensure the reliability and transparency of our operations by referring to various specialized guidelines (such as ISO 15189 and guidelines from the Japanese Society of Human Genetics and related societies).

2. Establishment of an Ethics Review System

iLAC has established an Institutional Review Board (IRB) to conduct reviews from the perspectives of ethical appropriateness, legal compliance, and personal information protection for contracted inspections and research utilization. This committee incorporates diverse viewpoints, including those of external experts, to conduct fair and transparent reviews, safeguarding the rights and safety of clients and research participants.

3. Protection of Personal Information and Specimens

We strictly manage personal information and specimens obtained during testing and will not use them for any purpose other than the requested service. In particular, sensitive personal information such as genetic data will be anonymized or coded, and will not be provided to third parties without the client’s consent.

4. Respect for Informed Consent

iLAC respects the free will of clients and sample providers and conducts testing and analysis based on informed consent. Clients have the right to withdraw their consent.

5. Fair Use and Social Responsibility

We will not use test results or analytical information for purposes that lead to unfair discrimination or prejudice, and we will strive to contribute to the development of socially useful and fair research and medical care. When publishing results, we will do so in a manner that does not identify individuals.

6. Quality Management and Ensuring Transparency

Our company maintains the accuracy and reliability of testing based on international quality standards for clinical laboratories (such as ISO 15189) and relevant industry standards. We continuously implement internal quality control and external quality assessment, providing transparent information to clients.

7. Continuous Improvement and Social Responsibility

We will periodically review this Code of Ethics in response to relevant laws and regulations, societal demands, and advances in science and technology, striving for improvement to achieve higher ethical standards and quality.
